The Ricochet Principle
It's supposed to be simple. Assassinate a terrorist in the bed of his American lover, blame his lover's husband, and rid the country of yet another bomb-wielding threat. Monica, one of the best assassins in the business, does her job as perfectly as always. The right evidence is planted. Henry Lawrence is arrested. And then there's a catch. Because Henry, a history professor, is a thinker. His book, The Ricochet Principle, argues that the effect of an act of violence continues to bounce around until someone can absorb it with dignity. It turns out, he practices what he preaches. And as Monica gets to know him she finds herself attracted…to the husband of a woman she killed. And he's in danger. A terrorist doesn't die without his followers wanting revenge, and now they line up to assassinate the man accused of killing their leader. But patriotic as she is, Monica finds it more and more difficult to let the chips fall where they may. She begins to protect him, and then she won't give up. She turns against her agency, and her agency turns against her. The terrorists want Henry spectacularly dead. Monica wants him alive. The agency wants him and her to disappear, and they hire another assassin. The Ricochet Principle becomes a bestseller. And events spin more and more out of control, as into this tangled web a quiet romance begins to weave between an honorable history teacher and the deadly soldier who loves him.
